Our mother, Margaret Hunt was born on February 25, 1931 and grew up on a hilltop farm with four brothers and two sisters in Burton, West Virginia during the Depression. When Mom was three her father perished in a train accident and her mother Georgia, who never remarried, kept the farm running for another 20 years. In the early 1950's Margaret attended the Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in Fairmont, West Virginia. It was during her field work in Philadelphia that she met her future husband, Rev. Warren G. Martens. They married in 1953, the same year that she graduated from Fairmont as a Registered Nurse. She worked in her profession until the birth of Robert, returned to nursing after her family had grown to four children, and retired in 1986. Margaret and Warren currently live in West Virginia.
