By the early 1950's, Georgia Hunt
had moved off the hill and in with her eldest daughter Ruth, who worked
as a schoolteacher and had a cozy little house on "the lane"
(it had no official name until recently) down in the valley. Georgia Hunt
died in 1961. Several years later Ruth, who had remained single into her
fifties, married Mr. Ira Ice, a retired grocery store owner and former
mayor of nearby Mannington, West Virginia.
