Prior to graduation day, Warren Martens of Boy Scout Troop 20 poses in his scout uniform in front of his home on Seventh Avenue in College Point, NY. Joining him at the end of the clip are his cousins Matthias Jr. and Cathy Schreiner.

Warren's rank at this point in time was Life Scout. The white sash indicates his membership in the Order of the Arrow, a scouting fraternity. The two and a half red bars on his sleeve marks his position as Patrol Leader (of Troop 20's Raven Patrol). On a side note, during the war he had been a volunteer emergency messenger for the Red Cross - but they only expected him to perform if NYC were ever attacked!
