16mm silent film with intertitles,
11 minutes Grandpa loved to play this for us grandkids, and today it remains one of my favorite Yuletide films. It's charming, poignant, delightful, and deserves to be seen more at holiday time. I had assumed this was an American production, until I learned from an animation website that it was Czechslovakian! Another surprise - its co-animator, Karel Zeman, was also the director of two wonderful feature-length movies I had watched many times on television when I was a kid, "The Fabulous World of Jules Verne" and " Baron Munchausen." 1.x 2.x 3.x 4.x 5. |
