8. WARREN AND THE GRAMOPHONE - circa 1932
It looks dark inside 119-40 Seventh Avenue, but if you look closely you'll see Warren cranking up a gramophone, placing a 78rpm onto its turntable and then setting the needle. I wonder what music was on that record - Duke Ellington, Rudy Vallee or just kiddie stuff?

Home movie film was usually intended for shooting in bright, outdoor light. Indoor photography required cumbersome floodlights which were obviously not used in this poorly lit sequence. During the 1960's, whenever I visited "Grandpa and Grandma" I'd play vinyl LP records on their Motorola stereo in this very room.
