"President Lincoln"

"Railroads on Parade" used authentic period locomotives to present the history of American transportation from the pioneers to the present day, with no acknowledgement of the automobile, of course. It presented five times daily (whew!) with live musical accompaniment.

In 1939 a diesel-powered locomotive was something new and different. Note the cutaway window for viewing it's innards.

Less than 20 years later the railroad industry was in rapid decline, supplanted by the Interstate Highway System which Gustave would also document.
