The red and blue "personal transports" were provided by American Express
which at that time was an express delivery business.

Nobody foresaw while planning the fair that the pavilions of Great Britain and Fascist Italy, constructed next to each other, would become strange bedfellows. By the time Gustave shot this footage the UK was already at war with the Axis.

Normally water cascaded down the green steps of "Italia" but, like the Lagoon of Nations and the fountains beneath the Perisphere, the water has been shut down for the season. By the time the fair re-opened in 1940 the Italian Pavilion itself was shut down.
