Here are the good people of the First Reformed Church of College Point in their Sunday best on Easter, 1931 as filmed by my Grandpa, Gustave Martens..

This reel, in all liklihood, had not been projected for decades until I showed it to my father recently. He had no recall of ever seeing it, and could only identify a handful of the many faces seen below. So the rest, I suppose, are lost to history - but if any of their living decendants out there in internet land should recognize them, please pass their info on to me!

YouTube Clip: Part 1

The helmeted lady with glasses in the bottom center was one of my father's Sunday School teachers, GERTRUDE VON SOUTHEN.

YouTube Clip: Part 2

Another one of my father's Sunday School teachers, "AUNTIE" KATE WEIHIE.

This handsome fellow is the Pastor, REVERAND BURKHARDT. Not only did he baptize my father, he also baptized my father's children, including yours truly. He lived into his 90's.

Who's that man with the fluffy? Looks like a real character.

I can't I.D. this couple either.

But I do know that man at far left - my Grandfather, the moviemeister!

Button your gowns, ladies!

"New Members" filmed a couple weeks after Easter. From the look of things, The First Reformed had quite an active membership.

All but the youngest folk in these pictures are definitely gone by now . . .

. . . but the institution carries on to this day.
